The Cod was too busy watching disasters unfold closer to home to pay much attention to the last meal at El Bulli, but one tweet did catch my eye:

Last dish at elBulli: Melba, in honor of Escoffier, who created it in 1846. Which happens to be number of dishes invented at elBulli.

It's maybe not quite Guiteau Monday territory, but what constitutes "inventing" a dish? (Unless it's Chris Kimball and potato salad, of course.) If I sneak some leftover tapenade into a BLT, have I "invented" a new dish?
