As the Cod and cinetrix kick off Idiodessy2k12, a plea for some help. The upcoming week starts w/ three days in Hollwood, FL, and watching our lads get a little fresh air and exercise with the lads from West Virginia, and then a detour on they way home to Seattle, for the annual English professor cattle show.
The cattle show organizers have a few ideas about where to eat, and cinetrix research has suggested Le Cosho, Sitka and Spruce, Henry's Taiwan, Mistral Kitchen, Elliot's Oyster House, Le Pichet, and the Nitelite as likely spots. We welcome amplifications, dissent, alternatives, etc as far as eating and drinking in Seattle goes. In particular, lunch in the vicinity of University and 4th. Thanks!

If you happen to have transportation I would add two Ballard locations - Delancey is really worth it, and the Walrus & Carpenter for oysters and cocktails. Le Pichet is a decent bistro but last time I was in (this summer) they seemed to have dropped off a bit in execution. Solid for the neighborhood, though.

Le Pichet is top notch, or go to their sister restaurant, Cafe Presse, which is on Capitol Hill and more low key. For cocktails, Canon across the street from Presse is a must-visit.
For lunch near 4th & University, I'd say go to Pike Place Market and either graze from the vendors or eat at Matt's in the Market - the view can't be beat and the food makes good use of Northwest ingredients/flavors.
Any of the Tom Douglas restaurants are a good bet, particularly Palace Kitchen and Serious Pie.
For sandwiches - gotta be Salumi in Pioneer Square. Unfortunately Paseo (Caribbean sandwiches) is on their winter break this time of year.
