Via G & G, news of a new series from UNC Press that has the Cod all hot and bothered. The Cod loves little books (and cannot lie) - the 33 1/3 series, Very Short Introductions, Pocket Canons, etc, etc.
And now these. Pecans and Buttermilk, for starters. And for those of you in the academic publishing racket, either as publisher or author -- are the sales of your monograph sluggish? Are you on the verge of pulping 60% of a very small print run? Well, how many fried chicken receipts did your book have?
Perhaps you have answered your own question.

Good spicy fried chicken is one of the wonders of Western civilization. There was a place in NYC called Lola's that made a 1,000 spice fried chicken that was no slouch of a bird. Those who are terrified of heat would use a drop or two of Tabasco and the generic chili powder found in markets. You and I know better.

I mis-typed. It was only 100 spice fried chicken.
