This Boulette's Larder place might be a bricks-and-mortar iteration of this NYT Style magazine. Insufferable (pulled pork with black Spanish radish slaw), precious (11 varieties of salt*), but with that one intriguing item that enrages you all the more by not allowing you to reject the whole deal (garlic-scented organic lard). If I were in charge of the training table for the Alabama Renegades, I would try to lay hold of some fingerling potatoes and some of this fancy lard, apply it to the exterior of these potatoes witha bit of salt, and put it in a pyrex baking dish or skillet in a 350 oven, and cook them until they were responisive to a fork. I bet they would like that. I would also suggest we listen to Afrika Bambaata
while we ate, esp as "Renegades" is one of the few old-school hiphop classics to namecheck Tom Paine. Study hard, kids!
*Or, ten more than you will find chez Cod. If it is good enough for Mordecai Richler and Rod Carew, it is good enough for me.
