Posting may be slim over the next few days as we resolve connectivity issues at the Summer Palace. Sadly, the relentless gentrification of VT does not include much DSL penetration. In any case, the following item caught my eye:
Slice and store salami and other dried sausage with this beautifully crafted beechwood cellar. Designed to hold salami securely in the channel on top of the box while you slice it, the top then slides open for storing the sausage whole or sliced. A screened window allows air circulation. The stainless-steel knife with olivewood handle nestles in the insert on the side of the box so it’s ready to slice when you are. Made in France. 13"L x 3.125"W x 3"H.
The utter uselessnes of this item makes me think it has to be a joke-- either a) a novelty item for bridal showers: "You can play hide the salami even when Brad is out of town, tee hee." Or better yet, b) a prank foisted by some vendor on Chef's as a way to win an elaborate bet.
After marrying into an Italian Family and visiting the relatives in Italy this is an AWESOME kitchen item. Before EVERY meal in Northern Italy the salami is brought out and cut as an appetizer. I am buying one for each of my husbands siblings to have in their house.
