I'm subject to this same dilemma even sans-blog. I'll think twice about the satisfying (typically the steak frites), knowing I should be trying something more interesting. That gives the chef a chance to shows off their chops. This is especially acute as I don't eat steak or frites at home, but often eat sea bass or cod or salmon.


Interesting because as I read this I was getting ready to discuss with my students the observer effect (often confused with the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, but not the same). Or at least, so wikipedia tells me.
