Some Cleveland love for the folks finding their way here from Ruhlman. I swore I would leave the egg alone, willing myself not to post the "Puff Daddy invented the remix" thing I composed in my head when it came out that, in fact, Adria himself, had been in the clubhouse for years, showered, changed and enjoying a "Gin and Tonic" composed of tapioca pearls filled with ethanol, juniper, quinine and lime essences, while Wylie/Vigneron were still out on the back nine fighting over the Stateside eggulacra. But the issue is harder to kill off than Rasputin. To judge from my referrer logs, folks are still hashing this out on various Top Chef-oriented boards. If you are still interested, my contribution to this momentious debate begins here, continues here, and lurches to a halt here. But, in light of the Ruhlman reset, I might as well point out that Rachel Leigh Cook is still the one to top when it comes to innovative work with eggs.
Put strings on that pan and people would accuse her of stealing from Pete Townshend (or somebody earlier I forgot).

Re-watching the clip with that in mind, I wonder about how they filmed the ad. Could a slip of a girl like RLC really swing what certainly looks like a 10" Lodge skillet like it was a tomahawk?

The skillet was actually balsam wood spray painted with a cast iron finish, The egg was one of those fake ones from China. This is from totally unreliable sources who lie to death.
