Saratoga Slim

I was sufficiently piqued by the Pickler's thoughts on asparagus in the Globe to make my own quickie 2-day asp spears last weekend. I've been experimenting with the quick-pickled route out of shear laziness (nothing wrong with slightly faster Slow Food in my book) and have to say, the results so far have been delicious. I didn't even boil the jars (before or after additions of veg and brine), so made up for the cook time by blanching the asp [OK, I cheated even, and used the nuker] pre-brine. Got cukes planted in the garden and plan to experiment w/them to find the right slice/spear thickness to work well w/my quick brine. Would dig any feedback on the lazyman's quick-pick route...
