In honor of today's Belmont (ed. note -- hard to root for Big Brown in light of the 8 Belles debacle) a look back at an early moment on noted handicapper Bob Neumeier's career, when he called the Hartford Whalers and Minnesota Fighting Saints playoff game that established a WHA record for penalty minutes. The call, and the absence of the video, are remarkable enough, but the physical artifact this mp3 comes from is still more remarkable. As the image to the left indicates, this recording was the B-side of a 7" released by the Hartford Whalers to commemorate the moment. Very hard to imagine this going down in today's NHL. Also, that logo, especially the whale pooping a suffix to left on the 7". Despite being older than Jesus, that whale looks fresher than next month's LRG stuff.
Is the A-side Brass Bonanza, I hope?
